The thing about the English TEKS is that you can teach them with just about anything. Yes, there are works you have to cover, but you can sneak in others, things you love. When I get stressed and fall out of love with teaching, I bring in something I am passionate about and teach with it: song lyrics, poetry, a suspenseful short story, something by my favorite authors, like Poe or Frost or Stephen King, whatever. Maybe that will help.
