Year in Review 2021

Well, here's my yearly post.

1. What did you do in 2021 that you'd never done before?

I got to ride a few new roller coasters when we went to Florida for Thanksgiving.  I also stepped foot in the Pacific ocean for the first time.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Well, I did meet one of last year's resolutions to get the Covid vaccination - have gotten all three shots so far.  This year I would like to lose some weight and get in shape before we go to Italy this summer.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope - but still hoping Josh and Emmalee might start a family soon.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No humas related to me, but I know a few people that did die of Covid this year.  Upset that Betty White didn't make it - she was the glue holding everything together.  My cat Lucy who was 22 died in April.

5. What countries did you visit?

No countries but did drive to Florida for Thanksgiving.  We went to Houston for Christmas and then had to make a last minute trip up to Perryton to get a copy of my birth certificate.  I did go to Canyon in July for band camp this summer.

6. What would you like to have in 2022 that you lacked in 2021?

More time being a librarian rather than a computer technician.

7. What date from 2021 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Best moments were playing in Director's band again at band camp this summer and riding two awesome new coasters at Universal in Orlando.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Again not getting Covid (that I know of).  Just really surviving the year and staying employed.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Since I couldn’t do much I guess there wasn’t much to fail at.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

No - even got the flu shot this year.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I bought myself a new Apple watch.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

All the teachers that survived last year and are pushing through this year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Greg Abbot and Ted Cruz

14. Where did most of your money go?

Trip to Florida during spring break

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Riding roller coasters

16. What song will always remind you of 2021?

Maybe "I will survive" - I kept thinking things would get better but Covid kept rearing its ugly head.  Maybe next year.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

happier or sadder? About the same.  Had ups and downs.  Getting really tired of covid ruining everything and idiot people who refuse to get vaccinated and are perpetuating this disease.

- richer or poorer? Richer briefly until I had to spend all the money we saved on a new fence and new air conditioner.

- thinner or fatter? About the same.  I gained weight and then lost some.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

I don't know... just living in general.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Wearing masks.  I still wear them because it is the safe thing to do, but I'm getting tired of them and I don't know if I'll ever get rid of the nose acne.

20. How did you spend the holidays?

New Years 2021  – attended Josh and Emmalee's wedding.  (I made the drinks as well.)

Valentine’s Day – We went to out to dinner, then the winter storm hit and all the highways got shut down.  Took us an hour and half to get home taking back roads.

Easter – Went to church for the first time since the start of the pandemic so it had been over a year.

4th of July – Played in a 4th of July concert with my community band in Seguin.

Thanksgiving – Went to Florida with Josh and Emmalee and went to Universal and Busch Gardens.  Spent Thanksgiving with my sister and her boat partner.

Christmas – Spent it with Josh and Emmalee.

New Year's Eve (yesterday) – stayed home and watched t.v.

21. Did you fall in love in 2021?

Still in love with Matt.

22. How many one-night stands?

Oh please.... I really should just delete this question.

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Binged on Cobra Kai this year.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Hate is a strong word but was disgusted with Abbot's handling of the winter freeze this year.

25. What was the best book you read?

I enjoyed The Midnight Library and Project Hail Mary among others.  I didn't quite reach my goal of 32 books as I was 6 short.  I did reread the Harry Potter series

.  Here’s my Goodreads list for this year: https://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/25328470

26. What was your favorite film of this year?

I only went to the movies once and saw the new West Side Story.  It was good - music was awesome, but the story is still pointless.

27. Whom did you miss?

My cat Lucy.

27. Who was the best new person you met?

Can't think of anyone - only met a few new teachers and admins but nobody that has stood out this year.

29. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2021.

Get the damn vaccine or we will never get rid of this disease.

Make a habit of coloring or bolding the words - "toll free". VOIP and the other half mentioned a vanity number. The results: The vanity number received a whopping 14 times more responses than the 800 numeric.
