Winding down in Austin

My student didn't make it to finals. That stinks, but at least we don't have to haul the files tomorrow. We picked up our other student at the airport this evening and just go back a short while ago. We had dinner at a place called Springhills that serves farm raised catfish. I thought it was pretty good, but the clientele was a bit, uh, interesting. I really try to not be judgmental, but sometimes it's really hard. Maybe I really am a snob, but I couldn't help but think of Jeff Foxworthy as I watched some people dine this evening. He has this redneck joke that is one of my favorites: "You might be a redneck if you prom date's dress is strapless, but her bra is not." There was a woman in there wearing a strapless shirt with a regular bra. I know it's kind of a trend to show off your bra straps for whatever reason, but I still think it is a bit tacky. He sister came in later and she was wearing the same get up of sorts but she had the clear, plastic straps... like I couldn't see them because they were invisible - yeah, right. She also had on short shorts with rhinestones on the rear. It was at least interesting to people watch this evening. I hope that doesn't make me sound judgmental - but I guess I am, huh? I guess others probably judge me just as much - oh well.
I toured south Austin a bit as we had to wait to pick up the student that flew in this evening. Now I've got to go to bed shortly so that I can get up at the crack of dawn - ugh. Well that's all the excitement here this evening.
